(noun) Masturbatory relief sought by hard-up cadets at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) through insertion of the rat's or upperclassman's penis into the eponymous hosiery during the wee hours at or about 2:00 a.m. followed by vigorous self-abuse. Encasement of the sufferer's member in the sock dampens the vibrations to avoid waking the rest of the barracks, and when release is obtained the sock serves as a receptacle for the spent cadet's ejaculate, thus also maintaining a semblance of cleanliness in the said barracks.
