The Ick

You could be on the chirpse with a guy or girl, everything seems to be going fine.. you THINK you like them but then you suddenly catch 'The Ick'. From then on you can't look at the person in the same way, you just progressively get more and more turned off by them, weirdly & maybe for no reason in particular grossed out by them. You'll cringeeeeee at the thought of you and them together. Feeling an intense cringe or nausea at the thought a a straight male doing normal things. Whether it’s sending long emotional paragraphs, sitting alone watching YouTube, or sitting down for a meal, a boy doing certain things or the thought of them doing things can leave girls repulsed.

The Ick

TikTok has ruined the meaning of The Ick by people labelling Deal Breakers, Pet Peeves, Turn Offs and Red Flags. The ick is an epiphany, a gut instinct, a wake-up call telling you to get out of a relationship. The misuse makes this visceral word lose its power. It's not petty and it's important to listen to it, don't deny your feelings.
