Still on the bird's back

A rural saying originating from Australia. To be "On the bird's back" essentially means being mid-transit; approaching a predetermined location, event, or gathering agreed upon by friends; To almost be ready for something.
Australians in particular use it as a euphemism to reduce swearing around children or foreigners who may take offence to typical Australian dialect, E.g., "Give me a second you whining cunt, I'm almost fucking there." is replaced by a simple "I'm still on the birds back mate".
Person 1: "Where the hell are you!?".
Person 2: "Still on the bird's back man".
Person 1: "Right, see you soon dude".

........

Person 1: "Honey I'm home! How's dinner going?"
Person 2: "Still on the birds back".
Person 1: *beats wife to the tune of monster mash*
