suffice to say

Also written and said more grammatically correct as "suffice it to say" or "(it) suffices to say", this term basically, literally means "it is sufficient to say"

From the word "suffice" which when used as an intrasitive verb like in the example above, means "to meet present needs or requirements; be sufficient".

"Suffice to say" is often deemed an archaic version of the popular saying.
Current: "It suffices to say that my grief is unmatched."

Archaic: "Suffice to say, the trailer park in which that gentleman lives is quite the spacially economical achievement in residential land use."

self-sufficiency standard

(ECONOMICS) an alternative metric of poverty; used instead of the poverty level by some researchers.

Developed as a superior alternative to the federal poverty level to estimate the income required for families to pay for their basic needs. Computed at the county level, the SSS takes into account the costs of food, housing, health insurance, childcare, transportation, taxes, and other basic expenses, with component values varying across more than 70 different family types. SSS wages have been calculated to date for all counties in 35 states and the District of Columbia.
Usually people are not concerned by reports of the large numbers of people living below the poverty level, because they assume it just means poor people have to tighten their belts.

The self-sufficiency standard (SSS), if explained, should change this. If a person's wages are below the SSS, then she is not only not making enough to meet her current needs, she's not making enough to preserve her ability to earn what little she has.

Stufficide

An act committed by an animal, usually a pet and very frequently a dog, where the insides of a stuffed toy are removed and strewn about the floor.
I returned home and saw the aftermath of what I originally assumed was an explosion. It turns out that our dog Tasha had committed stufficide against her stuffed toy badger.

self sufficient

The ability to not require me to babysit your ass on every little task that needs to be completed. Furthermore, not having to remind you of every little task that is required of you. Also, you being able to navigate the damn "help" tutorial on the computer, website, mobile device, etc. instead of expecting ME to be your "help" tutorial. Basically, being able to do ANYTHING your own damn self without annoying me.
I work with a ton of "independent contractors" in sales who can't seem to be able to wipe their own butt without me explaining it to them, writing down the directions, printing off a tutorial or loading a video for them demonstrating how to do so. I wish they could all be self sufficient.
