Street art is any art developed in public spaces - that is, "in the streets" — though the term usually refers to art of an illicit nature (as opposed to, for instance, government or community art initiatives). The term can include traditional graffiti artwork, though it is often used to distinguish modern public-space artwork from traditional graffiti and the overtones of gang territoriality and vandalism associated with it.

Street art is the art on the streets.

Street Art 

Street art is a cousin of graffiti. Using materials like stencils to make a piece. Street art is seen more in cities, in the suburbs it hasn't really developed into a big scene yet.

Street art is made in a variety of ways. We'll go over the three ways of doing it (graffiti has its own definition.)

One way of producing street art is stenciling, a stencil is made by cutting out a printed or hand drawn picture in specific areas as to produce an image after applying spraypaint. Street artists like Banksy use this technique a lot.

The second way of producing street art is called wheatpasting, which is when you use a homemade paste to roll over an image you printed (the paste only dries in thin coats, there are many tutorials on how to make it on YouTube.) Shepard Fairey is a legend of wheatpasting.

The third way of producing street art is called sticker art, also called slap tagging or just simply slapping. Stickers are usually made with USPS Priority Mail stickers or using homemade stickers with homemade adhesive. This is very similar to wheatpasting but it does not use wheatpaste. Stickering is best done in broad daylight since it's quick and easy to do and people don't give a shit about stickering but flip the fuck out when you start spraypainting a wall. A famous sticker artist is Space Invader.

Street art is an artform, not vandalism. Fuck anyone who tells you otherwise.

A name for murals for people who would like to sound edgy.

While some of it is made illegally and is associated with vandalism, a large amount of the murals are commissioned and legal.
The association with vandalism and graffiti leads some people to assume that these murals are rebellious.

Often made with aerosol cans or stencils. The imagery and style is often conventional illustration.

Banksy is one of the most famous producers of street art, often depicting mildly satirical one-liner illustrations.

A street artist is someone who makes the street its own gallery for his art.
Mostly Graffiti artist, but also other artist.
Mostly seen in big city's.

For me the biggest example of a street artist is banksy from the UK. type it in at google or something like that and you'll find tons of artwork from the streets

Street ARTcheaology 

Street ARTcheaology is the study of urban graffiti, street art and murals which exist only in the past and can only be studied through the recovery and analysis of the photographic evidence, salvaged material culture and artistic data which have been left behind. Only through these rare photographic artifacts, visual representations of past architecture (and dated art), imagery depicting detailed glimpses into dated cultural landscapes which have changed ,can we ever preserve the art history and visual integrity of street art. Because Street ARTchaeology employs a wide range of different documentary procedures, artistic analysis and is rooted in applied anthropology, it can be considered to be both a science and a humanity.

For as long as there have been streets and artists, there has been street art. Street artcheaologists photograph and document the art left on the streets, beautifying an otherwise boring city, temporarily. When it goes away, the only thing we have as proof is evidence. As it turns out, the building that once stood here had a badass Banksy wheatpasted mural on the street side, but once the building was torn down, it came down too...I'd bet with a little street artcheaology, we could see what it looked like, using Flickr.
