santaclausification

Santaclausification is the process of downplaying conflicts after they have led to desirable outcomes. Santa Claus is a fictional person invented by parents to disguise the difficult process of deciding who gets what gift. Similarly, regressive institutions prefer to disguise the origin of political progress out of fear that past victories will inspire future conflicts.

Example: The US government celebrates Martin Luthor King in ways that liken him to an welcomed, jolly, fictional character who brought the gift of civil rights. In reality MLK was an enemy of the institutions that now celebrate his progress. This change in framing allows the US government to imply that it gifted civil rights to the people, when in reality civil rights were created by revolutionary radicals through conflict with the government.
History books whitewash the civil rights era by playing up charismatic individuals like MLK who they can render harmless though the gradual santaclausification that happens when their achievements are summarized.

abandonware

n. software that is no longer sold or supported by the original publisher / developer, often found as free downloads on the internet because it cannot be obtained elsewhere. Not legal, but often seen as morally acceptable because the company that made it is no longer selling the title, nor releasing it as freeware, therefore abandonware is "keeping the game alive", so to speak.
Doom II is not abandonware because id still sells it, while The Incredible Machine is not sold, therefore is abandonware.

Foot prisons

Socks. Annoying, sweat-causing, non-barefoot enducing, everyday socks.
The first thing I do when I take off my shoes, is rip off the foot prisons I had to wear inside them. That's why I prefer flip flops, even in winter!

cornholio

Ruler of Lake Titicaca. Rumored to have a bunghole that gets very angry if it does not receive toilet paper. Cornholio the Great is often seen walking around with his shirt over his head and his hands in the air, chanting songs about his power, and his bunghole.
"I am Cornholio! You do not want to face the wrath of my bunghole, for I need TP!"
Butthead: Shut up, Beavis! (uh huh huh huh)
Beavis: Um, okay. (heh heh heh heh).
