Also as a pejorative: To accuse another of micro-managing acts of driving, packing, and scheduling.
The tendency to jimdick was more common when planning information had to be tediously gathered from newspapers, AM radio, and paper maps to be conveyed to a recipient. Today's real-time data-on-demand negates most benefits of jimdicking, other than the satisfaction of one who jimdicks. However, the jimdicking trait is still passed on through family culture and practice.
