it's the snakes 

A way of explaining an odd happening or a strange, inexplicable occurrence. Taken from the movie Snakes On A Plane, when the lights go off and someone shouts: "It's the snakes! It's the snakes!"

Joe: So did you hear about Jeff? His clothes caught on fire and he had to be treated for first-degree burns!

John: Ouch! How did that happen?

Joe: No one knows. Haha, maybe it's the snakes.

John: Maybe.
