A movie from before the mid 1960's, typically in black and white. They're called hat movies because most everyone wore hats in movies back then.

The Cat in the Hat movie

A movie based on the Doctor Seuss book, most likely inspired by the sucess of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. A generally unfunny movie, however there are a few moments that make you really laugh hard.
