A way to tell your friends you are giving something up. Able to be used even by the most heathen of us all.

Nathan: So are you going to go exercise today?
Jasmine: Hellz no, I gave that shit up like Lent!

or:

Jasmine: I love to obsessively tweet my friends, but when I'm backpacking, I'll have to give it up like Lent!
