Facebook Groupie

A person who always responds to another specific person's (i.e., the "target person") facebook status updates and links, typically within the first few minutes of it being shared.

The facebook groupie either 1) intensely romantically likes the target person, 2) wants to BE like the the target person, or 3) wants to be accepted by the target person's group of friends. The facebook groupie is often among the very first to respond to the target person's status updates/links and very rarely let's a target person's status update/links slip get by without a response.

They are often unaware how embarrassing, lap doggish, or futile their behavior appears to be. While the facebook groupie is typically of the opposite sex of the target person, facebook groupies can be the same gender as the target person.

Caveat: The term facebook groupie does not extend to family members or significant others. Therefore, you cannot be a facebook groupie to your husband/wife boyfriend/girlfriend, sister, brother, cousin, etc.

Facebook groupie

A person --other than a family member, significant other, or spouse--who always and consistently comments or likes another friend's facebook activity. The facebook groupie consistently engages and interacts with his/her idol on FB and his or her idol's pictures, comments, and other FB activity. Often the facebook groupie is the first to comment on a person's status update.

He comments on every on my every post. He is my facebook groupie; or

She obviously likes him, because she comments on his every picture or post. She is one of his facebook groupies.

Facebook Groupies (FBG) 

(noun) The individual, or group of individuals, involved in obsessive adoration of a particular facebook friend where a close relationship does not exist in real life. The Facebook Groupie will like or comment on almost any status update, even when they don't undertsand the meaning or are not involved in the conversation, and live under the illusion of a close relationship. Often, there is a symbiotic relationship with the facebook whore. The FBG is distinguishable from the stalker because their comments are not discouraged.

Tiffany: I'm not really sure why Chuck commented on that--he has no idea what we were even talking about.

Jim: Meh--he's just one of those Facebook Groupies (FBG).
