Differenism

The act of engaging in certain activities, consuming certain content, or adopting behaviors not out of personal or genuine enjoyment or interest, but rather out of the feeling of needing to be diverse or to try and seem different.

Sarah's adoption of various unconventional hobbies was not driven by genuine interest but rather by a sense of differenism, as she sought to stand out and project an image of uniqueness.
