Curb Surfing 

The process of going through residential neighborhoods just before the city sanitation trucks pick up “bulk trash.” Those items that will not fit in the homeowner's regular trash container are considered “bulk trash.” The residents are instructed to place those items on the curb in front of the house and at a scheduled time the city will pick up everything and dispose of it. The goal is to beat the sanitation truck to the neighborhood so the items on the curb can be searched before the truck arrives.

Here in Dallas Texas, we have been curb surfing since the late 1990s.

Noun / Verb — curb surfing

A street drifting term used to describe when a driver gets as close to the curb as possible while street drifting, to the point where the rear wheels or rear bumper may hang over the curb. The positioning gives the appearance that the car is “surfing” along the curb—hence the term curb surfing.

“Bro was curb surfing that whole corner.”

“Dude got the rear bumper hanging over the curb—that’s some serious curb surfing.
