crunch tackle

A type of tackle, in the game of football, where the player that has the ball during play, get hit hard as hell and knocked down in the same second or sooner.
OR
A crushing tackle delivered to any football player while the ball is in play, especially if either doesn't cause a penalty or a flag thrown by the referee/s.
Ronnie Lott, Charles Haley, Richard Dent, Mike Singletary, Shawne Merriman, etc. are all specialist of the crunch tackle.
