Basically the grammys for alternative music. The most famous punk/ rock/ metal bands get awarded by voting on the Alternative Press website. The greatest thing about it it's that the various artists and hosts can say curse words, and the hosts most of the time are hilarious.

John: who did you voted as "best vocalist" at the apma's?

Lexie: Brendon Urie, duh! He's got an amazing voice and technique
