Western Australia :
The Emu Wars , aka the Great Emu war
In 1932 to address public concern over the number of emus said to be destroying crops in the Campion district within the Wheatbelt of Western Australia. The unsuccessful attempts to curb the population of emus, a large flightless bird indigenous to Australia, employed Royal Australian Artillery soldiers armed with machine guns , rifles & jeeps leading the media to adopt the name "Emu War" when referring to the incident. While a number of the birds were killed, the emu population persisted & continued to cause crop destruction.
By December 1932, word of the Emu War had spread, reaching the UK. Some conservationists there protested the cull as "extermination of the rare emu".Dominic Serventy & Hubert Whittell, the eminent Australian ornithologists, described the "war" as "an attempt at the mass destruction of the birds".
Throughout 1930s onward, exclusion barrier fencing became a popular means of keeping emus out of agricultural areas (in addition to other vermin, such as dingoes & rabbits).
It lasted from 2 November ,1932 – 10 December, 1932
(1 month, 1 week and 1 day)
Long story short the Emu birds won.

Get the Western Australia mug.A huge and diverse hood in San Francisco that is bordered by Haight, Pacific Heights, the 'Loin, and market. Fillmore is often considered part of the hood, but is distinct in its own right. The area is full of life with plenty of bars, restaurants, clubs, markets, specialty shops, and cannibis clubs. Everything is so compact that driving is unneccessary and droves of party prone people walk the streets at all hours of the night, a hipper neighborhood in San Francisco.
