Being wide open at the top and placed near natural perches for raptors, birds of prey and coyotes can easily enter, consume the varmint then freely exit, reducing the need for poison control, encouraging perching of raptors in spaces where people benefit from protection of food, crops, plants from nuissance varmints, ultimately reducing disease, costs and balancing the natural system

I saw a rat scurrying around our garden at dusk as it was looking for food and slid into the varmint pit, where an owl perched on a nearby raptor perch in the night and saw an easy meal. It was all caught on our wildlife camera.
