Tyranny of Science

The elevation of scientific authority to the point where it excludes or devalues other legitimate forms of knowledge—experiential, traditional, artistic, or spiritual. Under the tyranny of science, any claim not validated by peer‑reviewed, quantitative, materialist methods is automatically dismissed as “unscientific” and therefore unreal or worthless. This tyranny ignores that science itself depends on philosophical assumptions, that many important questions lie outside its scope, and that other ways of knowing have their own rigour. It is scientism weaponised as cultural and epistemic domination.

Example: “His grief over his mother’s death was dismissed because ‘science says death is just the end of consciousness’—tyranny of science, using a narrow form of knowledge to invalidate a universal human experience.”
