2:To influence a situation or environment positively by adopting an unconventional, lighthearted attitude, often leading to unexpected or unconventional outcomes. In certain contexts, it can imply making a positive impact on the perception or acceptance of neurodivergent individuals.

Term for a literay character that serves no purpose in the narrative. Named for a superfluous character in J.R.R. Tolkien's Fellowship of the Ring.
