Reason privilege operates when one group's way of knowing is treated as Reason itself, while others' ways are treated as mere opinion, belief, or emotion. Reason privilege is invisible to those who have it—they just think they're being reasonable. For those excluded, the privilege is painfully visible. Theory of Reason Privilege doesn't reject reason; it rejects the monopolization of reason, the use of reason as a tool of exclusion.
