Tiers are for queers. This refers to the tiers lists of the smash bros. games, in which the highest level players on smashboards come together to decide which character is best on a competitive level. Predictably there is often much disagreement with their findings, giving rise to a sect of sorts of tier-haters. Though most are simply noobs who don't understand what makes a good character (ex. but Roy has fire!!!), there are a number of people who are intelligent enough to legitimately debate the topic.
