Popularized by the Historical Fiction movie "Swing Kids" (starring Robert
Sean Leonard and Christian Bale) whom yelled "Swing Heil!" instead of "Seig Heil!" in pride of loving swing
music and being the counterculture rebels of the Hitler Youth.
In Nazi Germany, there was a counterculture group who loved American Swing
music (which was banned for it was not
German as well as much was by African Americans or Jews), wore their hair
long, opposed Nazism, and went to clubs in the middle of the night to dance to this swing
music. Nazis occasionally went to check in on such clubs, which by then the band was given the cue to play German
music and all that were swing dancing only seconds ago had begun stepping in a traditional German dance so they did not get in trouble. However, the outcome of the Swing Kids' lives depended on how they reacted when dealing with the fear of being reported and taken by the Nazis versus being rebels and standing for what they believed in.
