Someone who has passed into the land of the dead but has re-entered the land of the living is said to be shadow kissed as their aura is full of shadows. They often have a psychic bond with the person who saved them.

Rose Hathaway is shadowkissed. She is from The Vampire Academy novels written by Richelle Mead and was in a car accident with her best friend, Lissa Dragomir. Lissa (who is a vampire, along with Rose) brought Rose back to life and in doing so the two were linked with a special bond, one that alows Rose to enter herself into Lissa's mind..which makes her the PERFECT gaurdian for Lissa.
