Soon to be ex. This is an acronym used during the time you are separated, still legally married, but are in the process of getting divorced. Many states require a 12 month separation period. During that time it does not feel appropriate to refer to your STBX as husband or wife.
My STBX has the kids this weekend. I’m still living with my STBX until we both agree on a property settlement.
