Popicon (noun)
A fictional band, musician, or pop culture idol that exists within another fictional universe. Often created as a parody, homage, or in-universe phenomenon to add depth to a story’s world.
Example:
"Dude, OH Boyz from Kim Possible are the ultimate Popicon—everyone in Middleton loves them, but they’re not even real in our world!"

Usage:
"That anime’s fake idol group is such a Popicon, I wish they were real so I could buy their merch."

Popcon is a type or category of art: A hybrid of Pop art and Conceptual art, it refers to any artistic work that comments on American pop culture, society, politics, or media. Popcon art includes art that has elements of both pop art and conceptual art so long as its subject matter is one of these four subjects.
The artist's works are an example of Popcon art because her conceptual art and pop art pieces address issues of American pop culture, society, politics, and news media.
