An incident when more than one pope is recognised by different sections of the Catholic Church, and they either compete, work together, or form an even bigger pope by joining their bodies together.

This is opposed to the normal state of affairs where one pope rules from Rome, as these many popes can be located anywhere in Europe, or maybe the others are hiding in different parts of the Vatican.
