Overplay

Typically it means to play a song so much that your interest in it degrades, but the word's meaning is not limited to just music. Almost anything that you can "play" can become less interesting if you do it too much. Video games, sports, etc.

Unless you have a strong passion for something, then you normally can do it as much as you can and your interest in it will never decay. For example, gamers that somehow main the same game for years.

A very similar word is overuse.
Example 1: (Just imagine any song playing in a car) I mean this is a good song, but it's slightly annoying now because my favourite radio station overplays it. It's like every 5 minutes they play this goddamn song.
Example 2: I used to love Carpenter Brut to a point where I couldn't stop listening to their music. But i overplayed their songs so they're not as enjoyable as I remember.

overplay your stroke

A potentially painful action that arises when a man forgets that he only has a short penis. Sometimes the recipient is the one who overplays the stroke due to over zealousness.
"Are you okay, Harvey? Did you overplay your stroke? It looks like your penis is broken!"

radio overplay

Songs that are played on the radio too many times for the average human being to physically, and mentally, bear.
Oh my god turn that 'Happy' song off, if I have to listen to another 30 minutes of radio overplay bullshit I think I'm gonna shit my pants.

Secondary Overplay Syndrome

When an artist, sometimes one that ultimately sucks, is played so much that other artists aren't even discovered on the radio, and a lot of people never hear of them. Victims include:
12 Stones
Every Avenue
Atreyu
Pushmonkey
A Bullet for Pretty Boy
Arsonists Get All the Girls
Love and Theft
Civil Twilight
Red
Causes include:
Bad-
Justin Bieber
Taylor Swift
Lady Gaga
Good-
Three Days Grace
Linkin Park
Papa Roach
Radio-only listener: 12 Stones? Who are they?
Me: A kick ass band who apparently suffers from Secondary Overplay Syndrome.

Primary Overplay Syndrome

When a band/artist is played on the radio so much that that song/artist becomes hated, even if it/they are actually pretty good. I swear, overplay is not the artist's fault, just those crappy DJs that can't get their hands on anything better to play. Victims include:
Nickelback
Creed
Hinder
Slipknot
3Oh!3
Radio-only listener: Man, I fucking hate Nickelback!
Me: Don't say that! Nickelback is an awesome band. Many people like just suffer from Primary Overplay Syndrome.

Underlay for the overplay

This is when someone spins you that you made plans with to go be with someone else. A great lie told to keep oneself out of the dog house or look good in front of a certain group of people. Giving an elaborate excuse that's usually not true for why you can't , didn't , or won't be able to do something.
Saturday I had two girls coming over at the same time so I had to think quick and told one that my cousin was in the hospital but that was just the "underlay for the overplay" so I didn't get busted.

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
Some grebo passed with Sabbath playing on his stereo.
The Poppies are at no. 17? God, a grebo band in the charts!
They're playing nu-metal now, bloody grebos!
