To use as an explanation when something is said in complete contradiction to the truth. Short for "Not intended to be a factual statement." Based on Sen. Jon Kyl's explanation of his announcement that 90 percent of Planned Parenthood services were for abortion.
Dan: Hey, a "free" companion on American Air requires a ticket upgrade that costs $100. In other words, not free. Grrrr.

An acronym for the phrase "not intended to be a factual statement." This phrase was made famous by US Senator John Kyl in his response to getting caught telling a lie about Planned Parenthood in the well of the US Senate. He somehow believed this explanation made lying acceptable.
