Netu (Teotl)
The cosmic forces, gods, and raw energies of the Aztec universe.
(Note: While the word "Netu" is sometimes tossed around in modern online roleplay or niche fantasy circles, the actual, historically accurate Nahuatl term for the Aztec gods is Teotl—plural: Teteo).
To the Aztecs, a Teotl wasn’t just a personified god with a cool outfit; it was the literal living fabric of reality, nature, and time. The Aztec pantheon features iconic, terrifyingly awesome figures like Quetzalcoatl (the feathered serpent), Huitzilopochtli (the sun and war god), and Tezcatlipoca (the smoking mirror).
Thanks to games like Smite, anime, and movies like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (featuring K'uk'ulkan), Aztec mythology has experienced a massive internet glow-up. In the lore, these gods are notorious for demanding high maintenance. The Aztecs believed the universe was on a constant countdown to the apocalypse, and the only way to keep the sun moving and the Teteo happy was through intense rituals, offerings, and—most famously—human blood to feed the cosmic balance.

Netu (Teotl) “Bro, Aztec mythology is brutal. The Teteo didn't just want your prayers; they literally wanted your heart to keep the sun from exploding.”
“I’m playing a character inspired by Quetzalcoatl in my D&D campaign, channeling that pure Teotl energy.”
