Nu Pop 

A subgenre of pop which most of the "enlighted" call it Crap.
Nu Pop is to Pop what Nu Metal is to Metal.
Its characteristics are: very noisy electronics, rap verses, party-swag-sexual-love lyrics, use of autotune, dubstep parts, voice alternation, heavy beats, use of turntable scratching (rarely), sampling etc.

Typical Nu Pop Artists: Black Eyed Peas, LMFAO, Flo Rida, Taio Cruz, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Linkin Park, Jason Derulo, Kesha, Nicki Minaj, T-Pain, David Guetta, Daft Punk, Madonna...

NU POP

The umbrella term for the new wave of internet-born pop music that doesn't give a fuck about staying inside one genre.

NU POP can sound like hyperpop, electronic, emo, rap, indie, R&B, glitch, rock, club music, or some completely schizophrenic combination of all of them. The point is that NU POP isn't a specific sound — it's an entire ecosystem.

The term was coined by RISUS ROME, who released the album NU POP! in 2023, essentially naming the movement before anyone else had a good word for what the fuck was happening. The album was released November 17, 2023 and contains 35 tracks.

Artists commonly associated with NU POP include 2hollis, Romulus, underscores, Jane Remover, Nate Sib, The Hellp, Tiffany Day, Fawn Burke, Fake Mink, Feng, and a growing number of other internet-native artists.

NU POP is characterized by genre-fluidity, heavily digital production, distorted or unconventional vocals, maximalist sound design, internet aesthetics, DIY sensibilities, and an almost complete disregard for the traditional boundaries between "pop," "underground," and "experimental" music.

Basically:

Hyperpop is a sound.
Digicore is a scene.
NU POP is the fucking umbrella.
