The act of consuming alcohol while actively serving as the coach of a Little League, high school, college, or zsupervised sports team.
A coach may be Matthauing before the game, during the game, at halftime, between innings, or immediately afterward. Common forms include sneaking off to the bar at halftime, keeping a mysterious beverage near the dugout, or treating the postgame handshake as the opening ceremony for happy hour.
The drink of choice is irrelevant. Beer, whiskey, cocktails, boxed wine — if you’re coaching and boozing, you’re Matthauing.
