There are many misconceptions that exist in our society regarding the metrosexual male. The term, metrosexual, describes a fad and is not a social status. A metrosexual male is an individual who believes that wearing tight designer clothing gives him social status. Contrary to popular beliefs, many metrosexuals that emulate this style are living at the poverty level or with their parents. In fact, many metrosexuals are financially dependent and barely have a high school education. As a result, a lot of the metrosexuals work at menial jobs (e.g. waiter, cubical worker, and customer service representative). In addition, many overdress for the type of labor that they do, which can give others a false impression of sophistication and success. Sophistication is a word that is commonly misused by the laymen. This word describes an individual, who is well-educated, worldly, refined, cultured, and of high social status. Therefore, being sophisticated does not mean wearing tight designer clothing, drinking martinis, carrying a laptop, drinking lattes, going to upscale nightclubs, working out, plucking ones eyebrows, etc. Again, I want to emphasize and clarify that anyone can follow the metrosexual trend, but not everyone is sophisticated.

A man that takes care of his body like a woman. For example; laser hair removal treatments, waxings, makeup. Pedicures and manicures. Now not all metrosexual men have to do all these things together to be labeled as such. He also enjoys body lotions and professional massages. Another only paint his toenails. Myself for example; I'm metrosexual who paints his toenails blue, purple, or any color he wants; he gets brazilian laser treatments, body lotions; also professional massages to relieve body aches and stress; he does not wear make-up that's his own personal line he will not cross. I also get leg waxings. Yet another man may only wear make-up yet do none of the other things, I just mentioned. We are all different all have are own unique tastes in how we feel comfortable in our own skin. And really that's all it's about being comfortable in your own skin; were all different all unique. But we are all 100% Straight. Metrosexual is a lifestyle and not a label for sexual preference.
We like the muffin not the pole and I'm Metrosexual and proud of it. Metrosexual is just a way of explaining that a man takes great care of his body and hygine.

A man that cares about his self image and is most likely into more feminine ideas than the average dude. He'll more than likely make a better lady friend than most other men.
1. He's into man sculpting, and shaving everything but maybe his legs.
2. He goes to a salon instead of a barber.
3. He probably drives a coupe, or a sport hatch, never a truck.
4. He takes time to manicure himself and puts on cologne everyday.
5. He has style and may wear button-up shirts on off-work days, and likes Euro brand clothing thats tight fitting. He's also into wearing male jewelry.
6. His music taste may be classy or hip.
7. He's mainly a light drinker and will drink wine over beer.
8. He's more than likely into multiple arts.
9. He probably doesn't care for Sports, unless it's Volleyball or Tennis.
