Logger's Mar
A 'flapper' that is typically accompanied by a blister and callous separate to the flapper, and ordinarily measures a third an inch, a half-inch, to an inch wide; it is named for its location on the inside of the bridge of the thumb, facing the palm, which slides down the handle of an axe and said handled can rip the skin off the bridge of the thumb when said axe is handled barehanded.
After fourty-five minutes of rough lumberjacking, Robert had sported a tiny flapper on his left hand, and a broad, ugly logger's mar on his right—which hurt when he handled any object with anything except the very ends of his fingers.
