Hernia Attack

When something shocking happens or someon scares you and rather than be frightened you have a 'hernia attack'. These can strike at any time, particularly if you are in a dangerous situation or easily scared. You may feel like the lining of your stomach is poking out to say Hello to the perpetrator. Hence you hold your stomach to ease the pain whilst trying to escape the impending threat.

On rare occasions this feeling may manifest when you are experiencing something funny. Please do not confuse this attack of the hernia with the more frequent and more serious attack that is of the genuine kind outlined above.
Girl 1: "Holy shit balls, I just saw the blue waffle"
Girl 2:"Me too, it gave me a hernia attack"

Boy 1: "I tried the log jammer with my girlfriend but I couldnt crap on command"
Boy 2: "OMG, that is hilarious, you just gave me a hernia attack"

(PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE IS NOT DEFINED AS A GENUINE HERNIA ATTACK).

You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
