Grimonym

A grimonym is a word dubiously posited as a synonym for another word by virtue of a word they are both synonymous with, but having different meanings or connotations.
That is, the spurious assertion that because A is synonymous with B, and B is synonymous with C, then A must be synonymous with C.
Not uncommon in English cryptic crosswords, when lazy setters try to find the most devious ways to refer to words in their clues.
'follow' can mean 'copy'. It can also mean 'pursue'.
However, if you said, "The master forger pursued Dali's technique", then 'pursued', to mean 'copied', would be a grimonym.
