futhark

The Futhark are the runes used by the Vikings, and those from Scandinavia. The original Futhark consisted of 18 symbols, each standing for a letter as well as being symbolic.

Futhark are used for writing, rune stones, magic, and divination. Some would carve the Futhark rune Tiwaz into their weapons before battle, and it was believed to achieve victory.

The more modern Futhark consist of 24 symbols and the 1 blank symbol, or the Unknowlable or Unchangable.

In the use of Divination, Futhark are used in Rune Casting. It is said that although seemingly random, when you cast or draw a rune, it will choose you and you can feel the power of the right rune. Their uses can be to foretell the future, or recognize and solve problems within yourself and others; a tap to the all knowing subconcious and wisdom.

Anyone interested in learning about Futhark for written language, magic, divination, or any other means, can look in really any book store which will usually carry atleast one book on the runes.
By the sacrifice and will of Odin, did the Futhark come to the knowledge of those in Midgard.

Anglo-Saxon Futhork Runes

This is a set of characters that are similar to english characters.
The word rune comes from the old Anglo-Saxon word 'run' pronounced roon meaning secret or mystery. Most rune alphabets are varients of an alphabet called the German or Elder Futhork Rune Alphabet that was developed by Northern European Tribes during the first millineum. It consisted of three columns and eight rows. It is called the futhork or futhorc because going down the first column translated into english it will spell futhork or futhorc. There are certain characters that connot be translated direstly into english. Some characters if attempted to tranlated into certain pronociation helpers like a double dotted 'i' and a combinations of characters 'c' and 'e' and a combination of characters 'a' and 'e' telling us that in the original language they used weird foreign accents.. The letter 'u' and 'v' are both the same character and the letters 'x' and 'z' are both the same character telling us that in the original language one of them was not used often. There is a singal character for 'th' and 'ng' and 'ea' and 'gh' and 'kh' telling us that these combination sounds were used often. There is not a character for the letter 'q' telling us that they did not use the 'q' sound.
There are several rune fonts developed by langesticks like the anglo-saxon rune font by Daniel Steven Smith and the moonrune font by Martin Bek. The Anglo-Saxon Futhork Runes are weird.

Armanen Futharkh

A totally BADASS set of Germanic runes, 18 in total, which are supposedly the original runes discovered/invented thousands of years ago by Odin himself! They were rediscovered by Austrian mystic and literary man Guido von List in the early 1900s. The Armanen Futharkh Has several layers of secret meanings, only used by HARDCORE Asatru, heathens, and occult magicians. Often wrongly confused for Heinrich Himmler's "Nazi runes" although they were published before Hitler and Himmler were old enough to buy a beer. They are NOT the same runes used by the dwarves in Tolkien books (those are based on the 33 Anglo-Saxon runes) although this is a common rumor.
"I just got a set of these Armanen Futharkh rune stones online, I OWNZ all you hippie new-agers."

"I'm not a racist, fuck you, these are Armanen Futharkh! Know what that means? Yeah, that's what I thought."

"wait you thought I was just a crazy LOTR nerd? Buddy, you need to get out more. I'm a practitioner of Armanen Futharkh, these runes are the real deal!"
