A relationship status in role-playing or storytelling, where two characters are not currently involved romantically but the players or author intends for them to develop a romantic relationship in the future.

In the Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowling, Ron and Hermione did not actually become a couple until the end of the series; prior to that, they were just foreshipped.
