Current use has it to denote 'a fierce, strident character'; evolved from Arabic myths of an Odyssean hero who, in order to gain rare knowledge of the song of the Sirens, was tied to the mast of his ship during a terrible storm, during which the crewmen, who were born deaf, were able to hear frequent and faint screams of "COMMON YOU FUCKING CUNTS!" and "Show me your KRAV MAGA!"
