Efjayei

"Efjayei" is the standard answer from the person cooking to the repeated daily question "whats for dinner". The word originates from the initials of the phrase "Food Just Eat it!" (F J E I), which was the irate response used by the cook in reply to someone at the dinner table, usually a child, asking about the unusual dish that has just been served up as their family meal. The word's first recorded use was in the mid 1970's in Hamilton, New Zealand. It has now become a part of regular daily vernacular at meal time in many New Zealand households.
