Difference between emo and goth 

Often on Urban Dictionary has alot of hate for emo and goth and incorrect definitions
For example some YouTubers like Crankthatfrank , Evangeline Demuro and Social Repose fall within these categories.

Emo is usually depicted to be a phase for teen though that is not always the case as you see with YouTuber Crankthatfrank. They are abit like Goths but not as extreme. They can wear other colours than just black and are not usually that dark personality wise. They can also seem about more casual in hoodies etc.

Goths are usually how you imagine them to look. They wear alot of black and usually are quite pale but can have colours like green to go with green hair etc .They also have different sub cultures which I wouldn't recommend going to Urban dictionary for as they have alot of hate on this website. They also have different levels of extreme for example , YouTubers Evangeline Demuro and Social Repose. Evangeline typically wears black clothing, sometimes with white (chequered). Her clothing isn't usually that heavy and is quite light and airy. Her make up also consists of other colours but more dark than light and bright. More extreme Goths like Social Repose wear very heavy clunky clothing which seen cool but difficult to cary around. ( Social Repose as a person is truly terrible).

People often criticise Goths to be evil devil worshippers , though this is not true and is just a stereotype. Goths are often quite artistic though people don't see this.

Goth is when you hate the world.

Emo is when the world hates you.

An example of the difference between Goth and Emo.

Goth: I hate you all! I don't like anybody! I hope you burn in the eternal flames of hell! DEATH TO ALL BUT METAL!!

Emo: I hate myself! Nobody likes me! I feel like I'm burning in the eternal flames of hell! Death to all but My Chemical Romance!

The Difference Between Goth and Emo 

Goth is a culture. It's not about hating the world. It's about appreciating and finding beauty in the dark side of life. You can find that lots of goths are musicians and poets and artists. Not all goths wear all black, you can worship the devil without being goth. Goths are often older, mostly in their 20's-30's. There are also many sub-cultures of goth. Cybergoth, victorian goth, romantic goth, just to name a few. Goths are often more mature.

Emo is a phase that a lot of teenagers go through, usually starting at the age of 13. It includes saying you have mental disorders to fit in. Often you see emo kids competing on who has the most extreme mental disorders that they diagnosed themselves. They don't know anything about emotive hardcore music, which the trend originated from. When the trend originally started, it was all about the music, and not the fashion. But with bands like My Chemical Romance, it became about self-harm. Please, remember that self-harming is a serious mental disorder that many people have, and it doesn't make them "emo" if they do. And please, don't self-harm just to fit in to a trend.
