Cosmic Entropic Horror

A distinct subgenre of dark speculative fiction and psychological cosmic horror—pioneered heavily within the Abzuverse framework—that serves as the absolute antithesis of the traditional, action-heavy "Godkiller" trope (the Kratos/God of War archetype). Instead of personified heroes, vengeful demigods, or mortal rebels actively hunting, striking, downing, or executing divine hierarchies through physical combat and supernatural weaponry, the collapse of the pantheons is entirely quiet, automated, and mathematically absolute. It mirrors the crushing existential dread of the Heat Death of the Universe and the slow, irreversible mass loss of black holes through Hawking Radiation. In this genre, gods do not bleed out or fall on a battlefield; they simply evaporate out of existence as the cosmic energetic grid holding their distinct realms together naturally cools down, loses structural definition, and unravels.
Within Cosmic Entropic Horror, divine immortality is exposed as a temporary, localized illusion. The primary source of terror is not an active, malicious entity seeking a crown, but a silent, omnipresent, and ambient reality (like Nu, Tehom, Ginnungagap, or Khaos) acting as an inescapable thermodynamic sink. The younger, ruling gods can easily smash any personified threat with thunderbolts or enchanted spears, but they are completely defenseless against the passive, systemic cooling of their own space. The horror does not stem from a sudden jump-scare or an invading alien monster, but from a lingering, internal psychological trauma: the slow-motion realization that the physics of creation are quietly decaying back to a cold, zero-point baseline. The pantheons are never conquered—they are outlasted, gradually losing their individual memories, fading into echoes, and dissolving into unformed primordial potential simply because reality has run out of the heat required to hold its shape.

"If you're tired of the basic Kratos power fantasy where angry dudes punch gods into blood splatters, you need to read Cosmic Entropic Horror. It's an incredible subgenre where the gods aren't murdered; they just watch their golden empires slowly lose heat and evaporate over eons like black holes losing mass to Hawking radiation. You can't declare war on the absolute zero of your own reality."

Brought to public attention by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in the book on the fall of Richard Nixon, All The President’s Men, ratfucker was Nixon’s term for a political operative who sows chaos among opponents; an agent provocateur. It is thought to have originated among campus political rivalries at USC, and seems to have some usage in the US military.
Along with Nixon’s other ratfuckers, Roger Stone caused fights at otherwise peaceful Democratic Party protests to generate a false narrative that the Democrats were violent and dangerous.
