Awkward Robot 

1. a flailing of the arms in an awkward robotic way during awkward situations which can often break awkward silences and make situations more awkward if people are not aware of its meaning.

2. Phrase originating in Upstate New York used to describe a really uncomfortable situation or socially inept person.

"Meara was talking to this guy at the party and he was a total awkward robot and says he is best friends with his mom."

Similiar to the awkward turtle, the awkward robot shows up when things are getting uncomfortable. Generally played by a third person witnessing the scene, the awkward robot moves their arms in a slow, mechanical, chopping motion while swaying from side to side. Bonus points for saying "Awkward Robot" in a robot voice.

J. Dog: "Dude! I scored with the hot red head from the Steak and Shake last night!"

Ronnie: "Hey you A-wipe, that's my sister!!!!"

Sadie: "oooo... awkward robot." (makes awkard robot motion)

Awkward Robot 

any situation that involves saying the wrong thing at the wrong time to tripping and falling in front of a huge crowd of people...all these situations call for the awkward robot

So I ran up to this kid and slapped his booty because I thought he was my friend...turns out I didn't know him. AWKWARD ROBOT!
