adj. the state of being deeply impatient and/or excited about something one expects to occur in the near or semi-near future. Used commonly with an event whose outcome is currently ambiguous. Essentially an adjective form of the word anticipate.

An example could be when you are pleased with yourself for making a decision regarding a difficult situation, yet have so much angst about revealing your choices at a large family gathering that you have thoughts of skipping the entire event.
