Adult grounding

When a fully grown adult, typically in their late teens or upwards, who still lives at home with parents or family—often due to immaturity, lack of financial independence—being restricted to stay in for things like excessive drinking, bad behavior, etc.

Example: He came back home after three days drinking beer, and his mom told him he wasn't allowed to drink anymore—he had to stay in the house and not go out again. That’s a classic example of adult grounding.
Lee: Bruv, I invited Mike out, but he’s not coming out for some reason.

Frank: Yeah, his mum said he’s not allowed anymore. Last time he came home drunk and threw up everywhere. I think there’s a proper adult grounding going on, bruv. LOL.

Lee: LOL.
