flavor text

In a game, sometimes items, actions, or mechanics etc. will have flavor text, which are just extra snippets of text that aren't related to actual gameplay rules or affect anything-- they're just there for effect. It's pretty much just fluff, but it can add realism, enhance the tone, include extra background information or narrative, or be funny.

*While going through dialogue in a game*

Person A: Wait, I think I skipped something. Was it important?

Person B: Nah, it's just flavor text.

Escape Text

Text that you send to someone at a designated time in order to offer them a chance to escape a date, meeting, or other event that they might need to get out of.

I have to send Maureen an escape text tonight in case she needs to get out of her date.

A phrase usually at the bottom of unfinished macro memes, more commonly found in ironic formats where it's left there intentionally.

S.O.P.A stands for Stop Online Piracy Act. It was a bill introduced in October of 2011 to prevent piracy, copyright infringement, and the trafficking of counterfeit goods online. S.O.P.A was very controversial, as many accused it of limiting free speech.

I don’t know why you would need to know about this, but you can find it in a high-ranked definition of America, so hey, context!

Someone: Hey, what’s this “ This text has been found in violation of H.R 3261, S.O.P.A and has been removed. ” on the definition of America mean?
Nerd: It’s a bill passed to prevent illegal activity online.
