Special with a lisp - used by 'spethal' people only. There is a difference between spethal and odd/abnormal/weird - however, it's invisible to the naked eye.
We're spethal! (usually said after walking into post/tripping over entirely flat surface/other random and completely dumb act)

Get the Spethal mug.Point spreads are used in football and basketball. The point spread (or 'line') will try to make the game an even game by adding points to the score of the underdog or subtracting points from the favorite.
A game has four (4) straight wagering situations. You can wager on the 'side' of the game or the 'total' of the game. When wagering on a 'side', you can choose to wager on (a) the favorite team (the team most likely to win the game, or has the odds in its favor) or you can choose (b) the underdog (the team most likely to lose the game, or has the odds against it). A 'total' (or over/under) is the combined amount of points both teams will score in a game. When wagering on a 'total' (or over/under), you can choose to wager on (c) 'over' or (d) 'under' the total points scored.

Get the Man Spread mug.Residual semi-liquefied fecal matter that clings to your palm after you zipped your hand through your butt-crack to check on the cleanliness of your undergarments after letting a fart of doubtful contents rip. The consistency of the fecal matter is key in whether or not the label "Spert" is justified. For instance, if the poop is too hard of substance, then the resulting goo on your hand is not "Spert" but just a shit stain.
Etymologically, the second part of the word derives from the Dutch word for pea-soup "Snert". This thick soup typically has the same consistency (and taste, one might say) as diarrhea. The first letter of the word comes from the word "Spurt", as this is generally the way in which the fecal matter is deposited in the undergarments.
NB: the word "Spert" should not be used to define diarrhea in general, or even for diarrhea that sticks to the hand for any other reason than it clinging there on account of a person having checked if he/she soiled his/her pants by zipping a hand through the butt-crack.

Person 1: Oh my, I think I may have pooped my pants accidentally.
Person 2: Are you actually reaching down your shorts to check it? That’s gross!
Person 1: <Reveals hand covered in diarrhea> No, it is Spert!

Get the Spert mug.Overextend oneself, undertake too many different enterprises. For example, Tom's exhausted; what with work, volunteer activities, and social life he's spread himself too thin. This expression alludes to smearing something (like butter on bread) in such a thin layer that it does not cover the surface. Jonathan Swift used spread thin in a positive sense, that is, something should occur less often (Polite Conversation, 1731-1738): "They (polite speeches) ought to be husbanded better, and spread much thinner."
With so many layoffs in one's work place there is nothing one can do except spread oneself too thin to keep one's job.
