Splitting (also called black-and-white thinking or all-or-nothing thinking) is the failure in a person's thinking to bring together a person's both positive and negative qualities.

Splitting is a symptom of mental illness (such as BPD)

When a group of guys toss their frisbee in the direction of a group of hot girls on purpose to get their attention.
