soft bigotry of low expectations

Not expecting disadvantaged people or minorities to meet the same standard of behaviour or achievement set for most people. It is called "soft bigotry" because it is a more subtle and subconscious form of prejudice.
"I will confront another form of bias: the soft bigotry of low expectations.

Several months ago I visited Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, where African-Americans confronted injustice and white Americans confronted their conscience. In 43 years, we have come so far in opening the doors of our schools. But today we have a challenge of our own. While all can enter our schools, many--too many, are not learning there.

There's a tremendous gap of achievement between rich and poor, white and minority. This, too, leaves a divided society.

And whatever the causes, the effect is discrimination.

My friend Phyllis Hunter (ph), of Houston, Texas, calls reading the new civil right. Equality in our country will remain a distant dream until every child, of every background, learns so that he or she may strive and rise in this world. No child in America should be segregated by low expectations, imprisoned by illiteracy, abandoned to frustration and the darkness of self-doubt."

- George W. Bush, speech before the NAACP (2000).

Soft Waffle

When a man who is very intoxicated (often off of large quantities of Whiskey) attempts to have intercourse with a woman in the doggy-style position, but finding that his penis is too flaccid for penetration, just ends up undulating the limp penis in-between the woman's butt checks.
"After buying him 3 or 4 Fire Ball shots, all I got was a soft waffle."

"Nothing ruins a good night like a soft waffle-ing."

"At first I thought he was really hot, but he just turned out to be a no good Soft Waffler."

Originating from Liverpool, a slang term meaning 'idiot' or 'stupid', but in a nicer way. Equivalent to Cockney people using the term, 'plonker'.
'Why did you do that? Softlad!'

Soft Begging

The act of begging someone indirectly. To hint at what someone wants to another person without actually begging for it in the hopes the other person will offer their help.

soft language

A great term invented by George Carlin to describe the way dumb self centered smug people refer to things.

"Sometime during my life toilet paper became bathroom tissue. . . . Sneakers became running shoes. False teeth became dental appliances. Medicine became medication. Information became directory assistance. The dump became the landfill. Car crashes became automobile accidents. Partly cloudy became partly sunny. Motels became motor lodges. House trailers became mobile homes. Used cars became previously owned transportation. Room service became guest room dining. Constipation became occasional irregularity. . . "

"Poor people used to live in slums. Now 'the economically disadvantaged' occupy 'substandard housing' in the 'inner cities.' And a lot of them are broke. They don't have 'negative cash flow."- George Carlin

"We would like to begin the boarding process." Extra word, “process”, not necessary. Boarding is enough, "We'd like to begin the boarding." Simple! Tells the story..." - George Cain
On airplanes the lady on the plane always uses soft language. "Please begin the pre-boarding process."
Typically used when you are talking about something in adoration.
Louis *in an interview*: "I'm close to all the lads but Harry is my best mate."
Me: "omg Larry is so cute, I'm soft."
