bandwidth

1. A portion of the electromagnetic frequency spectrum, typically used in reference to the transmission of radio frequency signals: e.g. "an analog television channel has a bandwidth of six megahertz"
2. The rate of data transfer over a specific time period, usually expressed either in bits or bytes per second: e.g. "my internet connection provides has a bandwidth of one hundred megabits per second."
3. A word often incorrectly used by business persons or others as a lame excuse for their unwillingness to perform a particular task or project, whilst trying to appear intelligent: (Also see "too busy.")
