Transitional Glasses

Glasses that change from normal glasses to sunglasses according to the amount of light in their location. Mainly worn by autistic, karate-fighting kids. Often accompanied by a head-strap to keep the glasses on in physical circumstances (eg. karate, bullying episodes, etc). Also worn by douchebags that like to wear sunglasses in the winter.

Person 1: Hey, who's that kid hiding under his coat with the transitional glasses?
Person 2: Oh, that's Davey. Don't bother him or he'll hiss at you.

Lost in BBM Translation

A situation that occurs over Blackberry Messenger (BBM) whereby either tone, sarcasm, inflection, humor, or facial expressions are not captured by the receiver of the message thus leading to a misunderstanding between both parties; this is often followed up by further lengthy drawn-out attempts by both parties to try to explain themselves over BBM; often, their explanations are in turn lost in translation. This phenomenon is a contemporary cause of the demise of many friendships and relationships...and of course an actual phone conversation to rectify the situation is out of the question.

Guy: So I was at the club till about 5am...I hooked up with a girl at my place till 7am...kicked her out by 8am...took a quick French shower...and was at work handling my client's conference call by 9am!

Girl: Wow, you're hot!

Guy: Thanks! I thought you might appreciate my ability to both party and work hard!

Girl: Ummm...no, I was being sarcastic. Your loose sexual behavior and cursory hygiene are quite off-putting. You are the very definition of a douche!

Guy: Well then, I guess your sheer hatred and jealousy of me were lost in BBM translation.

The term used to describe a transsexual's journey from appearing like their birth sex to their actual gender. Often includes HRT and surgery of some kind.

Transitioning can be very painful, but in the long run it's worth it to just be yourself.

Transition Era

Also simply called the "Transition", this is the time period between the 80s and 90s, from 1989 to 1991, possibly very early 1992. This corresponds with the administration of George Bush. The Cold War was over, but the 90s had not started yet since Bill Clinton was not yet in office. Cartoons of the time period were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (along with their live-action movies) at the height of their popularity, the Nicktoons like Dough, Ren and Stimpy,and Rugrats, Captain Planet, and the latest Super Mario brothers cartoons to name a few. USA's cartoon express was still stubbornly hanging on though. This was also when music made a change from the 80s "hair bands" to the Seattle Sound and the grunge scene. Hip hop and rap were becoming more mainstream. The fashion was somewhat of a hybrid with 80s and 90s, neon colors remaining popular. This is also the same time that The Simpsonsfull length episodes premiered on the young FOX Network.

The Transition Era was awkward for all involved due to the drastic changes that occured. This has not occured before and so far not since.
